3/10/2024 0 Comments Bathroom with vinyl plank flooring![]() Your anxiety level about water will answer your question. In bathrooms the best choice is a sheet vinyl but many people are using the LVT planks in bathrooms and are more than happy with it. It comes down to where you live and your anxiety level about the VERY SMALL risk of water penetration at the seams of the LVT. I don't like vinyl either.but I'm more accepting of it so I would vote for LVT. I'm not a "tile" fan (I live in Canada) so I have no want/need to see tile in the any place other than a bathroom/mud room.and even then I hate them. This issue is very, very, very small.but for those who are anxious about moisture/water proof, this small "issue" makes this product a "no-go" for them. The PLANK is water proof.the SEAMS or edges are NOT! This is not normally an issue in kitchens or entranceways but can be a bit of an issue in a bathroom. Even when they are 100% plastic/vinyl the SEAMS are not water proof. The internal structure of the plank differs company to company. LVT planks have one draw back.they aren't all "water proof". Entire homes done in "tile" are well accepted/expected in these areas and do very well as a flooring solution. In warm climates (CA, FL, TX, GA, etc) tiles are much easier to live/work with and ultimately to resell the home. In cold climates (most of Canada and the norther US states) tile throughout the home is a "difficult" thing to live with. The decision will be based mainly on where you live and your anxiety level re: water.
